Our Story

Kenya Through the Eyes
of Those Who Call It Home

DALA isn't just a tour company — it's a movement to make Kenya's extraordinary wealth of culture, wildlife, and humanity accessible to everyone, while creating real opportunity for local communities.

Our History

Born in Kenya. Built for the World.

DALA — which loosely means "traditional rural home" in the Luo language of Western Kenya — was founded in 2014 by Fredrick Omollo. Fredrick had spent years studying and working abroad, and noticed a consistent pattern: many travellers longed to experience Africa beyond the traditional safari, but struggled to find an authentic, community-rooted alternative.

He founded DALA to fill that gap: a platform that disrupts the tourism industry by creating cheaper, more impactful experiences that go beyond wildlife watching into the very soul of Kenyan society — its rural villages, urban slums, volcanic mountains and extraordinary people.

Today, DALA employs 100% local Kenyan youth, all trained in hospitality and tourism management. Part of every booking directly supports MAKLWETA — a charity co-founded by Fredrick that empowers the education of rural girl children across Kenya.
